What the tutorials teach
All three tutorials agree that the double kickflip requires a harder, faster flick than a regular kickflip, achieved by moving the front foot further off the heel edge, angling it more toward the nose, and/or placing it lower toward the tail. TheSavage493 focuses on the varial-style front foot position combined with a downward (not sideways) flick. Braille isolates the flick as a separate drill before any landing attempt. VLSkate emphasizes the front foot toe-rotation toward the nose as the main driver of flip speed. The consistent advice across all three: drill the flick in isolation first, commit to landing despite primo slams, and adjust the front foot position if under-rotating.
- Move the front foot further off the heel edge and/or to a varial/lower position on the board; combined with angling the toes toward the nose, this generates the faster flip speed needed for two rotations
- Flick with a more downward scraping motion rather than rolling sideways off the toe; the downward component is what forces the extra rotation
- Isolate the flick first: pop, flick super hard, and step off without landing; only start catching once the double rotation is consistent every attempt
- Commit to landing through primo slams early on; holding back prevents the full rotation from developing
